Not Your Mother's Clean Freak- REFRESHING DRY SHAMPOO

Not Your Mother's Clean Freak

REFRESHING DRY SHAMPOO

I've used MULTIPLE brands of dry shampoos at varying price points. There are two key things you need to realize about dry shampoo - The price doesn't necessarily dictate the effectiveness & you want whatever you put on your head to have some reference to "invisible" or "dries invisibly" on it. This product does what it promises. I have fine but thick black hair that gets oily very quickly, I also have itchy scalp and oil on my scalp makes it itchier so this product actually solves 2 problems for me.I wash with shampoo, use a argan oil conditioner then use a serum on my ends to keep the frizz down as my hair has a bit of wave to it. The following day I'll use one of my dry shampoos, and I don't like to reapply. I think one application is plenty, otherwise I'd just wear my hair up. I section out my locks, shaking & spraying a moderate line a few inches away, then section another about an inch or two away, repeating the part, shake & spray technique from one ear to the other. Then I part & spray a couple lines across the back in two parts. Shaking the can periodically is necessary. I MASSAGE the product in and wait a few minutes. Then I brush thoroughly. I do this with whatever brand I buy and have found it is the BEST way to achieve the best the product can offer (whichever one it is). I've yet to have the problem of not enough product or a nozzle clog with any of the brands I've purchased. Not sure if others are using way too much or failing to shake the can while they use it...The contents need to be mixed well while applying. The majority of them (brands) are going to smell like lemon wood polish, they just do, even the very expensive ones. And they are all going to leave some kind of texture you'll feel in your hair. I've YET to find one that literally works like regular shampoo. If you want that, wash your hair. If you want to get another day, use dry shampoo. I'm more concerned that I don't get left with white flakes or extra greasy feel immediately after application. My two favorites are this one and the suave version but actually prefer this one because the powder is a bit finer so its worth paying a few bucks more:)

Baby room craftiness

Here are some more of my new found craftiness projects, I had a blast making them.

DIY no sew curtains!

So I'm getting pretty crafty since getting pregnant...its almost like I can't help myself...I'm addicted to DIY projects.

I got the idea for this one when I googled no sew curtains.

I made these curtains for $5, took about 45 minutes

Step One: Buy a flat sheet...your curtains should be at least 1.5 times wider than your window...I used a twin flat sheet for these. Cut open a sliver just large enough for your curtain rod to go through on each side.

Step Two: Cut it to the right length and use no sew fabric tape. Place the tape where you want the hem to be, and iron it shut. See directions on no sew tape.

Step Three: Add the details...a pretty ribbon across the top or bows and buttons..whatever you want!

Step Four: Place your new curtains on the rod and enjoy!

Final Salute: A Story of Unfinished Lives

Final Salute: A Story of Unfinished Lives Final Salute: A Story of Unfinished Lives by Jim Sheeler

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
Heartbreaking book about the reality of our troops not coming home, Casualty Notification and the aftermath for the soldiers families and friends. Marine Staff Sergeant Kevin Thomas was quoted in the book to say "You always here all these statements like "Freedom isn't free." You hear the President talking about all these people making sacrifices. But you never really know until you carry one of them in the casket. When you feel their body weight. When you feel them, That's when you know. That's when you understand." For most people reading this book will be the closest they get to understanding. It will make you realize how disconnected you are from the war going on right now and hopefully make you think of "What can I do?" Final Salute is a must read for every American and should be required reading for every President. No matter what we think about the war in Iraq, we need to remember the troops. We need to support them and honor them.
